Plein-air studies

So I've been taking the plein air painting course over at CSUF to gain a more sophisticated sense of color and I think it's paying off...although I've still got a long way to go. I never realized how much stuff there is to take in! It's really tough, but it's totally fun to paint outdoors.

Hey, I saw your comment on Bill Wray's blog, and thought I'd take a look. I'm not experienced well with painting (my mediums are charcoal and ink), but I would maybe suggest getting a little bolder with your shadows. You can take or leave that suggestion as it's not a professional opinion. I do like your toons, however--especially that vintage gentleman feel they give off.

These are very good for first attempts. You can go far with it if you choose to. I can help you make a big jump if you take the workshop.

that mountain one is pretty nice Ryan! You're improving big time. Your colors are clear and vibrant. The rocks were quite nice too.
